more music

North Indian Classical Music, to be exact. Went to hear Musicology Professor Stephen Slawek, sitar, and Pt. Anindo Chatterjee, tabla, Sat. night. So good. Haven't been to a Classical Indian concert in awhile. Went to a kinda poppy one earlier this month, which didn't do much for me. L. Shankar and Gingger and Zakir Hussain and some dude on trap set. It was like World Beat prog rock.

Jandek: Live

Jandek's Interstellar Discussion

Well, this is the weirdest news I've heard in a long time. The reclusive Houston "outsider" musician, Jandek, played live in Glasgow.

Hope David Tibet is right, if I'm reading him right, that "Jandek is on the loose" and may play out again. (Hopefully somewhere closer to home and with advance notice.... What are the chances? This event was completely unannounced.)

Listening to Jandek's Interstellar Discussion on my drive to work this AM. Can't find my copy of Telegraph Melts. I really wanted to hear "You painted your teeth!"

Hits

the birthday party!!
God a'mighty, I forgot how much I love The Birthday Party. Especially Zoo Music Girl, Release The Bats, Blast Off, & Mutiny in Heaven.

And I love the photo of Tracy Pew. Hits, indeed.

The Pixies!!!

pixieblur
Went to see (and hear and feel and smell and...) The Pixies last night. Much, much fun. I'm trying to remember what decade it was that I saw them last, when they had Pere Ubu opening for them....

Yep, a lovely, blurry phonecam photo....

yoga & web design

Took over and redesigned the website for my yoga teacher's place, Rolling Hills Yoga. I kinda like the simplicity of the design... and I got to use one of my sunflower photos from my drive to Taos, NM.

Austin Chronicle: Best of Austin: Obscure stuff....

Well, my website, idletimearchive.com won one of the more obscure of The Austin Chronicle: Best of Austin awards (scroll way down the page). Like, one made just for the site. But that's cool. Nice to be acknowledged.
