Bert's Quarter Shrinking and Can Crushing Gallery

Now this is cool. And very bizarre. Better than sticking pennies on the train track.

Speaking of Sonic Youth and The Fall

Fall covers by Sonic Youth for John Peel. Check out saucerlike for other groovy Sonic Youth items, like album cover art icons, and wallpaper.

It's a weird world

Walmart.com - Music Downloads features The Fall. I didn't even know they (WalMart, not The Fall) had jumped on the iTunes bandwagon. (But Mal Wart ain't gettin' a cent out of me.)

I'm looking forward to The Fall's return visit to Emo's on May Day.

Who's shouting now?

Heard more shouting from Stubb's last night, but this was shouting I recognized. As I was reading by the open window, I heard Sonic Youth's encore, across town, downtown. Ah, Kim. What a belter.

Local man craps out

The Blogger folks were hosting a party last night at Club Deville, 'cause it's SXSW time. I didn't make it. If I had, I'd have known that Ludicris was playing at Stubb's, practically across the street. As it was, I was lying in my yard, watching a big ass lightning storm brewing in the west and wondering who the hell was doing all the shouting. Because, Ludicris was playing Stubb's outdoor stage, a couple of miles away or so, and when the wind is just so, I can hear the music from Stubb's... or, in this case, shouting. I kid you not, from where I was, it sounded like aggressive, macho abuse by some deranged drill sergeants. I hope it didn't sound like that to the folks at the show. Nah....

So, I looked at Stubb's website today to see what I'd been hearing and noticed that Sonic Youth is playing tonight. Thought about going. When I first saw them at the University of London, on the Evol tour, 1986, they instantly became my new religion. Saw them a few days later in Paris in a tiny club (and photographed them) and, then once home, saw them any time they came through Austin. God, I loved them.

So tonight, I sat out in the yard, trying to hear any familiar songs, but since I haven't really been in the cult since around the time of Goo... no luck. Ah, Youth.

But, damn, that lightning show was good last night!

Ask Jeeves "How to slamdance"

Ask Jeeves Answer

I was just skimming through the stats on my Idle Time 1980's punk rock scrapbook site, after cleaning out all the P*ris H*lton and nude Br*tney Sp*rs referrer spam, and I found this sad query. Now, put on some Br*tney, get some friends in a small room, and knock each other around a bit.

Everything's in the air

A co-worker and I were sneezing in tandem the other day. Since he seems to follow pollen and mold counts and the like, I asked him, "What's in the air?"

"Everything," he said, "it's spring."

So it is.

and now it's so bright....

What the hell am I doing inside today? It is an absolutely flawless spring day out. Oh, yeah. Work. My parents completely forgot to set me up with a trust fund.
