I didn't even celebrate this blog's 1st birthday a couple of weeks ago.
Guess I need to add a search engine to this site, since Google doesn't link to the appropriate archive pages. Odd, since they own Blogger. Ya search alpha+brainwave+meditation and ya end up on the index page that doesn't have a damn thing about any of that stuff. Bummer.

Biked to work again. Shaved 5 minutes off my time... didn't even make it through the bonus tracks on The Psychedelic Furs' Talk Talk Talk CD (another recent purchase - I've had it on LP since it came out in 1981, but my record player is on the fritz).

Still haven't caught up on the travel posts. Craig Giffen, the guy behind the excellent human clock site, is cycling around Australia. Well, actually, I think he's in New Zealand now, but I haven't gotten that far in his travel journal. Lots of good photos.

Lunky's bike trip around Australia
Black line is his (completed) trip around Australia by bicycle

Reading about cycling, and the fact that the car is in the shop (and because I skipped yoga last night to drink margaritas), I decided to bike to work today. I think it's about 8 miles, and some unavoidable bad traffic. It was a good ride, about the length of Sonic Youth's Evol CD (to which I was listening on my Walkman).

The Cyclone on the map
Dang. GeoURL is pretty cool. The arrow points to my house. Well, GeoURL actually points to my blog. But that's my place on earth, there. (I seem to have a thing about maps.)

the World as a Blog
Now this is interesting. A view of the blogging world from up above.
Via roadsassy via a search on the blogrolls of blogrolling.com (because I just set up a blogroll today).

Bought a bird book called Mexican Birds last night, which includes Belize, and now I'm looking forward to our Belize trip even more. Good lord, but they have some crazy looking birds down there!

Hot damn! We're going to Belize in 3 weeks. I've never been to that part of the world. I'm looking forward to some exotic birding and skindiving and checking out all the critters. Maybe some sea kayaking. Jenni's looking forward to chillin' on the beach. We'll be spending the first day or two at an archaeological dig associated with the anthropology department where Jenni works.
